SAIC supports PhD students with conference grants
Kimberly Veenstra, one of the first SAIC conference grant recipients

The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre is committed to supporting researchers at all stages of their career, and one of the ways we do this is through conference grants for postgraduate students.

Thanks to the grant scheme, two PhD students from Scotland – Kim Veenstra and Michael McGowan – were able to attend the 2015 European Association of Fish Pathologists (EAFP) conference in Gran Canaria, The conference attracted more than 500 scientists and industry representatives from 43 countries.

For both students, the conference was their first opportunity to present at an international conference, and both made numerous new connections with companies and researchers in their field.
